Gastrointestinal Health by Lea Murphy

Gastrointestinal Health

A healthy gastrointestinal tract is essential to overall health and well-being. This has long been a fundamental naturopathic principle which is now supported by scientific evidence. Lea uses a simple but well developed and effective protocol to support gut health that she uses with many of her patients with great success.

Lea calls this the “Weed, Feed and Seed” protocol, that can take anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks to take effect. Treatments improve digestive function and lower gastrointestinal health as well maintain healthy intestinal flora.

  • Any health condition linked to intestinal dysbiosis such as autoimmune disease, gut disorders (such as irritable bowel syndrome, food sensitivities, gastrointestinal infections, chronic skin disorders, poor immunity, fatigue, breast and colon cancer).

Guidelines and tips

A diet low in starch and fat should be followed and the emphasis should be on fresh fruit and vegetables, and protein from white meats, poultry, eggs and fish. Red meat should be kept to a minimum. Starchy fruits and vegetables such as bananas, potatoes and sweet potatoes should be avoided for best results.
